Chair: Derrick Simpson
The CCA’s Transportation Committee works to ensure that our community continues to be a safe and people-friendly place for all, whether on foot, on a bike, or aboard public transit.
Our mandate includes:
Promoting active transportation networks throughout Centretown;
Advocating for a “Complete Streets” approach to planning, by creating streets that are designed to make it easy for all users of all ages and abilities to cross the street, walk to shops, and bicycle to work;
Pushing for greater walkability throughout Centretown, ensuring that sidewalks are safe and navigable during all four seasons;
Ensuring that public transit in Centretown is safe, reliable, and accessible for all.

Type: Standing committee
Purpose: Advocate on behalf of CCA members and the broader population of Centretown for sustainable and inclusive transportation in Ottawa, with a focus on Centretown.
Rationale: There is a need for a “voice” for people living in Centretown as many transportation decisions made by the City that impact Centretown do not always consider the needs of its residents.
Responsibilities: Inform, delegate, advocate and support on issues of walking, rolling, biking, driving, parking and public transportation (including e-scooters and Para Transpo). The scope of the committee is primarily focused on supporting and promoting “Active Transportation”, but includes all modes of transportation including private vehicles. Unless asked by other committees, the committee focuses exclusively on transportation to avoid duplicating other committees' work.
Authority: The Committee’s authority for external interactions or communication is to make recommendations to the Board. Decisions on running the committee are within the authority of the Chair or persons delegated by the Chair.
Composition: Anyone who is a member of CCA and interested in transportation and wishes to join the committee. The Chair is selected by the Committee members on an annual basis, following the AGM.
Meetings: Meeting monthly virtually or additional meetings for special issues as required. Meeting procedures are flexible and consensual; and quorum is a minimum of 3. The Agenda is prepared and reviewed by the Chair or co-Chair and, along with the draft minutes, distributed to members in advance of each meeting. Communication between meetings is done electronically through the Chair. The recommended time commitment is 2-5 hours per month (including meetings).
Reporting: The Committee provides monthly written reports to the Board.
Resources and budget: Electronic tool to host virtual meetings and a budget (approved by the Board) on an as needed basis that is controlled and disbursed by the Chair.
Deliverables: As defined in the approved work plan.
TOR review: The TOR is reviewed by the Chair and Committee following the AGM, or if there is a significant change.
