One of the options for gentle intensification in Ottawa is to use the new rule for 3 units as of right. It should be possible to put coach houses and tiny homes, otherwise known as Auxiliary Dwelling Units (ADU), in a number of backyards. What does it involve to go through the permitting process to add an ADU? What do you need to know? Ian Kelly from the City of Ottawa will be making a presentation specific to the Ontario Building Code and City of Ottawa Zoning By-law requirements that apply to ADU’s, Tiny Houses and Coach Houses; it will be technical in nature. . We will save time for a Q&A session at the end and provide City of Ottawa Building Code Services contact information to the attendees. The question of affordability can be explored in the Q&A section if there is enough interest by others attending the session.
